Increase Wheat Procurement Limit :C.M. Shri Kamal Nath

The Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath has urged the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for upgradation of the existing roads in the proposed third phase of Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana and also cover the villages and habitations on the basis of 2011 census, which were earlier left out. They will all be connected to all-weather roads. Shri Kamal Nath met the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at latter’s residence at New Delhi today and discussed several important development issues.

Approval of Major Mining Projects

The Chief Minister drew attention of the Prime Minister to about 20 major projects related to mineral exploration, which are pending with various departments of the Government of India for approvals and permissions. He said that if these permissions are granted, state will be able to strengthen its revenue base.

Increase Wheat Procurement Limit

The Chief Minister also urged the Prime Minister to increase the wheat procurement limit to 75 lakh metric tonnes in the state. He said that presently procurement limit has been fixed at 67.25 lakh metric tonnes under the Food and Public Distribution System while the Government of India had agreed to decide the limit of 75 lakh metric tonnes in February. This limit was fixed on the basis of the procurement figures of previous 4 years.

Give Assistance in MNREGA

Giving details of the status of payment to the workers of MNREGA, Shri Kamal Nath said that till now the approved labor budget under MNREGA exhausts before January. Due to this, the payment is delayed for 3 to 4 months.

Talking about Bundelkhand and Nimar tribal areas, the Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister of deficient rainfall the areas due to which farmers and other people are forced to migrate in search of job. To prevent this migration adequate assistance from under MNREGA is needed, he added.

Shri Nath also requested the Prime Minister to open a Center of Regional Center of Indian School of Mines Dhanbad at Singrauli. He informed the Prime Minister said that the Government of India had decided to open this center in 2008. For this, 163.25 acres of land has been allocated by the State Government. This Center should be opened soon, he added.
